Melanie Martinez Releases Twisted Video for "Sippy Cup"

>> Melanie Martinez, The Voice contestant turned Atlantic Records starlet, is getting ready to release her debut album. This artist has mastered the exploration of the darker side of everyday life through intriguing pop songs, and her new single "Sippy Cup" once again does just that. The video for this song features a booze-induced murder and the struggle of an innocent but all-knowing bystander, all taking place between family members in their home which should be a safe place but isn't.  If this video doesn't get you interested in Melanie's new album, I don't know what will.
“‘Sippy Cup’ is the second part to ‘Dollhouse,'” Martinez tells SPIN. “The song is basically the bridge between the Dollhouse EP and the Cry Baby album. This song is about what actually “goes down in the kitchen,” a deeper look into Crybaby’s family life. This is my favorite video I’ve done so far. Directing this music video made me very excited to direct videos for every single song on the album. I can’t wait to continue telling the story of the album in every way possible.” (Source)

>> Watch the twisted drama directed by Martinez unfold below.

>> Cry Baby will be released August 14th through Atlantic and the album is currently available for pre-order through iTunes. You'll instantly get "Carousel," "Dollhouse," "Pity Party," "Soap," and "Sippy Cup" as instant gratification tracks when you pre-order, so get going! You can also pre-order a physical copy here

PVRIS Release Video For "Fire"

>> As hinted at the end of their video for "Holy," PVRIS have just released a video for their song "Fire." The band has been non-stop with their engaging visuals, and this latest video is definitely keeping with the trend. The band is trapped in a room full of smoke and anger with the ominous feeling that this won't be the end of the struggle. Watch the video below!

>> It seems as though the band will release a video for each song on White Noise.  If that's the case, which video would you want to see next? While you're struggling to pick a favorite, be sure to catch PVRIS on The Vans Warped Tour this summer! They'll be performing until the tour ends on 8/8.

VIDEO PREMIERE: "Wither" by Sink In

Photo by Paul De La Rosa

>> We have a treat for you today. The Music Obsession has the honor of exclusively premiering Sink In's video for "Wither," the band's first single from their forthcoming debut EP! If you haven't heard the name Sink In yet, you sure will soon. This pop-punk band from Hershey, Pennsylvania is doing everything right by creating awe striking live performances as well as recorded material. This music video is no exception. Even if you never have a chance to see them live (for your sake, I really hope you do,) their first music video can almost bring the concert to you. During the performance part of the video, the band is completely in their element and only focusing on one thing: the music. Honestly, it's mesmerizing.

>> Like many music videos, "Wither" also has a semi-intricate plot. Lead singer, Tighe Eshleman explains: "The video shows me as an older man looking back upon the life I'm living right now and wondering what I had lost. But in the end, I realize that I'm still here. I'm still living this wonderful life and I can still make an impact before I'm gone."

>> It's very rare that a music video plot ties into the story of the song it's supposed to be telling, but the ideas behind both are very similar. Eshleman wrote this song as a response to his father's writing about getting older. In some ways, the old man in the video could be his father as much as it is an older version of him.

>> I've talked enough. Now just watch the video! Let us and the band know what you think in the comments below! Plus, if you like what you hear, be sure to catch the band on The Wide Eyes Tour through August 8th.

Album Review: 'Good Job Go' by Good Graeff

>> The world of Indie Pop showcases some exceptional acts that aren’t afraid to think outside the box. There are many gems to be found within the genre and Good Graeff is undoubtedly one of them. Consisting of only two members, twin sisters Brooke (Lead Vocals/Guitar) and Brit (Cello/ Backing Vocals), Good Graeff showcases their knack for writing catchy hooks, riffs, and melodies and exemplifying them with fantastic arrangements to provide an exuberant bold experience on every track on their latest release, the EP entitled Good Job Go.

>> From the opening seconds of the EP, the listener is met with a great upbeat combination of guitar, an electric drum kit, and timpani on the track “I Want That.” This leads into an explosion of pure pop excellence in the chorus as the lead guitar riff accompanied by piano and cello enters over an infectious lead vocal melody that is bound to have you humming it for days on end. This cello, guitar, piano combination in the chorus provides an excellent example of the fantastic arrangements laced throughout this entire EP. “I Want That,” which also serves as a single, is definitely a standout of this project.

>> The five tracks of Good Job Go provide great representation of the style and various influences present in Good Graeff’s music. From the opening cello riff on “Good Touch” with hints of baroque pop to the folky sing-song atmosphere of “Catch 22,” Good Graeff has done a fantastic job of blending together the various genres that have helped craft them into the unique act they are.

>> My only complaint of this release is that I wish it were a full-length album. With each song having its own individual identity and fantastic energy, not a moment of Good Job Go feels dragged on, which makes this EP fly by. In a way, that is the brilliance of Good Job Go as it leaves you wanting more and serves as a fantastic introduction for new listeners of the duo. Until Good Graeff decide to head back into the studio to record new material, Good Job Go will absolutely have listeners eager to hear what is next for the twin sister act that is on the verge of no longer being one of indie pops best kept secrets, but instead being full fledged stars.

Night Riots Release Video For "Oh My Heart"

>> Alt Rock So. Cal natives Night Riots have just released the visuals to their single “Oh My Heart” from their latest release, Howl. The video does not follow a particular story line or feature any over the top visual effects - it simply places lead singer Travis Hawley in a desert running towards, or from, something and passionately singing out the lyrics to the track in the process. The video provides an atmosphere of uneasiness and confusion, a very fitting theme to fit the characteristics of the song itself. Check out the video below:

>> Be sure to catch Night Riots on The Vans Warped Tour this summer! They'll be performing until the tour ends on 8/8.

Panic! At The Disco Release "Hallelujah" Video

>> In a moment of spontaneity, Panic! at the Disco has released the video to their latest single “Hallelujah.” The soulful track’s video features the always-entertaining Panic! front man Brendon Urie crooning in what appears to be a church (not many better places to sing a song entitled “Hallelujah”) and chasing a woman who he can never seem to catch up to, due to rotating paths and stairways that always seem to lead him off track. Watch the video below:

>> Since its release on 7/7, the video has gained over a million views. Looks like people love optical illusions and Panic!.  Though no album has been announced yet, the release of this single and now its video strongly appear to be serving as the first steps in the promotion process for a new album. With this video gaining 1m+ views in about a week, it looks like that album would be in high demand.
