Name Dropping 101 ; Part 11

>>MySpace just introduced a music player that allows you to have 10 songs per playlist, and as many playlists as you want. They're trying to get every song by each band on their page. This is why I'm proud to say I'm a MySpace - Music addict.
[Check my new playlist here.]

>>So, as I'm going through the bands that've added me lately, I've come across Endoxi. "I've Come A Long Way" & "I'm Bipolar" are really nice to listen to. "I've Come a Long Way" almost reminds me of The Matches (vocally, at least). When I think about it, Rob Thomas pops into my mind too. What do you thinkk? "I'm Bipolar" starts out fairly awesomely, and only gets better. This song has a sax, too ! But, I'd have to say "Still Better Days" is my favorite. It's got a saxophone, and it's got a really cool, fun vibe. Honestly, it's a song I could see myself listening to at the beach... because that's what I think about on a cold, rainy day in September ;] They're pretty relaxed, but happy all at the same time? It'll make more sense as soon as you listen to their songs. They're definately worth at least a little of your time :]

>>A Static Lullaby = Amazing, except they're into the whole screaming business. If you can deal with that, check them out. The chorus of "Under Water Knife Fight" sounds really awesome [ scream free ! ]

Songs Worth Listening To

Yeah. I just added one :]

>>On the bottom of the page, after the last post shown, there's something new above the pictures. I called it "Songs Worth Listening To." Basically, it's just a list of songs that I find particularly amazing. I'll add more, and replace others as I see fit. I'm planning on updating it whenever I can, so check the list frequently [I probably won't make a post saying that I updated the list. Kind of pointless, right?] Go and get listeningggggggg.

*Bands: Let me know if you want one of your songs to be there :]

Oh, & only 34 more days 'till the concerttt :]
Crazy Donkey, here I come <3

Name Dropping 101 ; The Donnas, A Rocket To The Moon, and more

>>A Rocket To The Moon is killer. "Not A Second To Waste" & "Dakota" are so addicting, I love it. If you don't become nearly as obsessed as I am, there's seriously something wrong with you.

>>Another person I've mentioned but never really discussed is Christofer Drew, aka Nevershoutnever! He's probably got the most consistently adorable songs in the world. [*Mild exaggeration only] "Bigcitydreams" is so cute. It's the kind of song that makes you want to sway back and forth in rhythm to the music with a huge, dopey grin on your face .. Not that I've done that, or anything... His demo "Yourbiggestfan" has the same affect; as do pretty much all of his songs. None the less, "Ybf" might be my new favorite song my him. Very close call, though. If you're in the mood to smile, or need a good cheering up, go check him out. You'll feel better really soon after.

>>The Donnas just uploaded their cover of "Dancing With Myself". I think it's pretty good, although I'll always be a bigger fan of Mr. Billy Idol himself :] Yeah, I'm an eighties freak. Don't judge. Speaking of Billy Idol covers, The Murder Dolls covered "White Wedding". I very much prefer the original, simply because they added a Marilyn Manson twist to it, plus way too much screaming for me to truly appreciate; and because nobody does Billy Idol like Billy Idol. The music is good, though. You can check out their video here, and the original here [ both on YouTube] if you're interested.

>>Also, check out "You Found Me" by, yes, Kelly Clarkson. It's a pretty good song. But listen to "Starstrukk" and "Don't Trust Me" by 3oh!3 first, because they're wayy better. & because I'm addicted to them :]

>>By the way, that lack of focus thing I'd mentioned before? Clearly still in effect.

Name Dropping 101: Jonas Sees In Color

>>So, I've mentioned Jonas Sees In Color a few times, but I don't think I've ever actually talked about them. I think my favorite song by them is "Loose Threads". It's really mellow at the beginning, and it just gets more adorable as it plays out. It's got a nice sound, and I love the lyrics. "Luck And Love" is great, too. It's chill too, but neither of the songs are boring. They're really sweet songs, and "L&L" steps up the tone in the chorus, so it's not the same as "LT". "A Puzzle Solved" isn't as mellow; it's got more of that punk vibe I love so much. Check them out, because they are really good.

*Also, check out Jared Scharff and the Royals. Apparently, they grew up with Honor Society. They're quite good, promise :]

Name Dropping 101 ; Kill Your Ex

It's not so much a piece of advice as it is the name of a band.

>>New messages? Score. I opened my inbox, and up pops a message from some Joey character with a guitar in his profile pic. Hmm, why not see what it says? Turns out, he's in this band called Kill Your Ex. In his message, he told me that their CD, From Words To Motion, was available at FYE & Sam GoodyI did listen to the CD at the FYE in the mall there [ Because FYE is so wicked, there are 'price check' scanners that actually let you listen to the CD right there in the store. Convenient, eh? ] They're amazing & I bought the LAST COPY of the CD in the store :] Jealous? I think so. I'm obsessed with the first song on the CD & their MySpace, aka "Hades And Demeter". That song, as well as the second off the disc [ "Fetch Todo Fetch" ]
have a different sort of sound to them, especially with the way they begin. The band itself has a sort of edgy - punk vibe that I absolutely love. "The Divide" & "Nine Point Eight" are also really good songs that you should look into. Actually, you should look into the band .. & their CD. Get to it.

Name Dropping 101 ; Part 8

Well, I'm awake earlier than usual.

>>So I was checking my new MySpace comments just now, & I had one from this band, Aurora Falls. I remembered adding them but I forgot how they sounded. [ Lately, I've gotten into the habit of just adding every band that requests me without looking at them first. I know, that's not good. So i wasn't sure if I had checked them out beforehand. ] So I looked at their page, gave them a listen, and remembered I added them because they're quite good. The first song on their page, "Next Time You Breathe In Make...", reminds me a lot of Taking Back Sunday - meets - Chiodos. Turns out, TBS is the number one on their top friends. Cool, huh? THey've also got four free downloads up, my favorite of them being "Three's Company". They've got a great sound that I believe is worth looking into. Get to it.

>>Remember Ellington I talked about a while ago? Well, they're doing this whole 'New songs in September' thing, which I've been waiting for for seemingly an eternity. Nevertheless, I was far from dissappointed. They added "Between Faith And The City Lights" and "In A Lonely Place". Both songs, along with "Wide Awake And Smiling" are going to be on their new EP entitled More Like A Movie, Less Like Real Life. They have the lyrics for all of the songs on the EP posted on the blog on their MySpace. I've mentioned before how much I love their lyrics, so when they posted that I definately died a bit :] I can't wait to somehow get my hands on it! [They are from Australia, mind you.] Trust me, if you like genuine lyrics with a sweet sound that makes you want to listen, you'll want it too. Go tell them how much you love them, & that I showed them to you !
