Name Dropping 101: Honor Society, Capital Lights, and more

>>Before I say anything else, let's just get it out there that To Be Juliet's Secret has a new song up on their page, called "Darling Can't You See You're My Tragedy". It's really good, and kind of different than their other songs, especially concerning the vocals. The band has only improved, naturally.

>>So, this band Honor Society is pretty chill. I wasn't when I was trying to listen to their stuff but the stupid laptop I was using decided not to give me internet access. Joy. But now I'm home, & using my functioning - desktop :] Even though the band has but three songs on their page, you can tell even from the first one [ "See U In The Dark" ] that they've got talent. Their lyrics are adorable ;; here's a look from that song::
Maybe if you were someone else, It wouldn’t have to feel like this; I’m wondering how you feel about me now; Or was this just a friendly kiss, Cause I’m really seeing you for the first time.."I can't help but listen to "Why Didn't I", partly because I like the mellow vibe, and partly because it reminds me of N*SYNC songs like "Gone" & such. Yeah, I just made an N*SYNC reference. I'm just as surprised :] "The Takeover" also has that sort of sound, but it has a unique kick that sets it apart. Check them out, & tell them [ & me ! ] what you think.

>> I love me some Capital Lights. "Worth As Much As A Counterfeit" && "Out Of Control", but I love all four with a burning passion :] "Outrage" has amazing lyrics that I can't get out of my head, including phrases like "I'll leave you raining on your own parade." [ I'd type the rest, but I don't want to mess them up. ] Just to mention it, I'm obsessed with Bryson's voice; it's amazingg . "Mile Away" is simply adorable, & I love listening to it. It cheers me up, but it also seems like it would be one of those songs in a movie during a sadness-turned-joy scene .. if that makes sense at all to anyone but me. Want to understand what I'm trying to say? Go Listen to their amazingness ! Oh, & they're going to be in NY on three dates early this fall : Sept. 28 in Buffalo, Sept. 30 in Poughkeepsie, & Oct. 1 in Rockville Center, and they'll be back around early November for a show or two. Not a New Yorker? Go to their MySpace & check out their dates :] If you've liked any of the bands I've talked about so far, I'm sure you'll love Capital Lights .. but probably not as much as I do, simply because I doubt it's possible ;]

>>Linden is a band I pretty much became obsessed with the first time I heard them. I love Kara's voice, and her hair! She reminds me a lot of Kelly from Saved By The Bell. In their song "Attached", she sounds like Sheryl Crow in "Soak Up The Sun" at the chorus. It's probably my favorite song by them. I also love "Shout Out." Since they're from Wisconsin, they mostly play there. BUT they're coming to Rochester, NY on Oct. 12. Check their page for other dates, places, & times :] Once you hear them, trust me; you're going to want to see them live. I wish I could soon !

*>>My favorite people in Ludo has posted a new video in The Ludo Video Thing, it's Episode #22. It's also pretty fun to watch. Speaking of watching, you should definately check out all of the episodes. I'm pretty sure #15 is the "Love Me Dead" video. Get to it !

**>>Oh, & check out The Life I Lead. They've only got two songs on their page, but they're both really good :]

TMO: The Music Obsession

Today was a really good day.

>>This blog of mine has a new badass URL. It used to be http://k-musicislife.blogspot.com/
but now it's www.themusicobsession.com
HOW SiCK iS THATT?! I acknowledge that if you're reading this right now, you clearly know where to find it. But when you tell all your friends about what I've been working on over here, if & when that happens, give them the new URL instead. Not only is it easier to remember, but it's also the new name of my blog.

Goodbye "The Music Update" ;;
Hello "The Music Obsession".
It's got a good ring to it ;]

>>I'm leaving for North Carolina tomorrow morning :] I don't have a computer where I'm going, but the friend I'm bringing is awesome enough to have a laptop that I can hijack freely .. which technically means I'd be borrowing it, but I think we get the pointt. So I'll post as much as possible, but I make no promises.

Name Dropping 101

>>The Goodnight Anthem. So this is now the third time I've listened to all of the songs on their MySpace, & I'm pretty sure I could do that 12 more times and still truly appreciate them. I love their sound so, so much. They've got an upbeat vibe that makes me smile, & almost want to listen those 12 extra times. "Tricks of the Trade" is one of my favs, along with "State to State" and "Don't Forget Me". They're really good, so look em up :]

For Now, Check Out These Bands & Tell Me What You Think! ::

Name Dropping 101 ; Jaded Son

>>Remember Jaded Son from a few posts back? Then you probably recall how amazing I said they were. Well, multiply that by about 2405872035 & you're still not even close :] I kept in contact with the guys, talking about random stuff for a while. One day, they sent me a message saying that they were going to let me hear some of their new stuff before it comes out, in addition to some of their other songs :] Score.

>>They sent me two burned CDs: one being an Acoustic Mixtape, with all songs recorded between '02 and '07; and the other being a sampler of their new CD to be titled .. well maybe I shouldn't say that much yet .. I don't exactly have a sense of my limit on what I can mention with this, but whatevs :] Anyway, they're both amazing.

>>The acoustic one has 10 tracks, and I can tell the older ones were the later tracks. Know how I usually say a band has that 'rough sound' typical to an unsigned band? Earlier on, Jaded Son was pretty rough, but not in an unpleasant way. Since the songs seemingly went in chronological order, but with the newer ones first, I reversed the order on my iTunes so that as I listened to the songs, I could see how they 'developed' [ how their sound changed ]. Usually with a band, I'll like their older stuff more, but I think Jaded Son has only improved with time. My favorite acoustic tracks are probably "You Look Good in a Tracksuit", "Still Awake", and "All Night". Oh, and "Still Awake" is also on the other CD, but it's the non-acoustic version .. I think it's really cool hearing a song normally, but then stripped down too. Check their MySpace; I think they still have the acoustic version up on their music player :] :]

>> The second CD, which was the sampler of their new stuff, is crazy good too. It has songs like "Affinity" , "Lies", and "Orange Afternoon", which you'll recognize from their MySpace page, because I know you checked :] "Affinity" has an acoustic sound as well, but there's something 'stepped up' about it that makes it better than the others, and by far my favorite ( with "Still Awake" a close second, regularly and acoustically ). The vocals are freakin sweet [ way to be, Josh ] , as is the song in general. I won't talk about "Orange Afternoon", because you can just go listen for yourselves, and I'm pretty sure I've mentioned it already .. "Lies" reminds me a bit of "OA", but they gave it that far - away sounding effect that makes it really cool to listen to. I might just be describing it wrong, but it's awesome. I swear.

>>So not only did they go out of their way to send me the CDs, but they signed them & everything. There's a list of the tracks in order, the name of their new CD [ that I got the sampler of ], and they sent me messages to make sure I got them on time. If that doesn't show how simply amazing these guys are, then I don't know what will. Check them out, and let them know you heard about them from me :] They deserve all the recognition in the world, && hopefully they'll get a lot of that soon **At first they told me to keep it on the down low, but now they're spreading the word! The guys are going to be playing live on Radio 1045 [out of Philadelphia] at 5pm on September 5. :] If, like me, you don't get the station, no worries! Check em out live at the Radio Station's page [ Just click it above ; I added the link ]. Bands such as Panic At The Disco, The Bravery, my friends The Goodnight Anthem, Death Cab for Cutie, and my buds LUDO also performed on that station. Crazy, right? [Click on the band's name to see more of their performance.] It just shows how good they are; it's not everyday a band is included in such a company as that. But, as I've said, they deserve nothing less. Remember to watch them live!
[ Click the pic for the station's main page ]!

Good luck guys, thanks again, and stay incredible.

A Piu Tardi ;]

>>That was Italian for 'see you later'. Yes, that was necessary because I'm leaving today for a trip, I'm going really soon actually. I'll be gone for about 4 or 5 days, depending. So, while I'm gone, check out Nevershoutnever! He's amazingly adorable, and I wish I had him on my iPod for my trip :[ My favorites by him as of now are "Bigcitydreams" & "Smelyalata". Also, it'd be really cool if when I came back I had a bunch of messages or comments on here. It'd be really really cool to come back to comments on my MySpace too, whichever you prefer :] Let me know what you think, & who I should talk about nextt. Thanks, & I'll be back soon.

[ Try not to miss me too much <3 style="text-align: center;"> ]

Name Dropping 101 ; Everly, To Be Juliet's Secret, Holiday Parade

>>Number one on my list of bands is Everly, and they're number one for a reason. They've got such an energetic sound that makes you listen, and keeps your attention. My personal favorite song is "She Walks By", which is a free download on their page! Hooray :] Not only does it sound amazing, but the lyrics are relate-able. Here's a sample :: "Y'all looked up at me surprised by my action, yes im dying inside but you’ll never know; the moment i walked by
and turned around the corner, i fell to the ground, and let my eyes burn; to move on, i have to stay strong.."[ They're from Texas, which explains the 'y'all' in the lyrics ] "Seconds From Falling" is a close second in my book. It's insanely good, and you can't help but get into it. They've got a genuine passion for the music, whether it's writing it or performing it. && They love talking to fans [ SCORE ! ] They're incredibly talented, and if you don't look them up right now you're missing out.

>>Looking for a band with a soft && smooth sound accompanied by the diversity of a guy && a girl singer ? Well, that's convenient. Sounds like To Be Juliet's Secret is sort of exactly what you've been searching for. They've got a sweet appeal and a mellow vibe, making them perfect if you need something to listen to on a calm day, or if you need stress relief - musical style. A great song for that is "All Angel No Wings". It's pretty chill, but it's not boring at all. It has some sort of appeal, as if you can't help but keep listening once you've started. It's pretty much like that for all of their songs. My favorite is "Hello Love Goodbye". Lyrically, this might be the song I connect with the most of all the ones I've mentioned in this post. You'll probably feel the same, once you read a bit :: "My pen could only write your name, you were filling every page, so fast. then we fell and died away, its not supposed to be this way; i'm so far from okay, if its all the same then its just you that's okay." My favorite lyrics of the song are "My pen could only write your name, you were filling every page." and "my lips could only say your name you were filling every phrase." Song-wise, also check out "Heart Filled Lines". TBJS has something so sincere about their lyrics, and their music, that you can't resist connecting with them. So look them up, tell them how much you love their music now, and maybe that you heard about them here.
tbjs loves you!

>> I love Holiday Parade, and you should too. They're crazy good, with a sound that makes you smile. Their new demo [ "Gone", now on their page ] is quite adorable, and very smile-making. (( That made sense, I swear :] )) Doubtful? Just check their lyrics! :: "I'm ready to forget, I'm feeling hopeful yet; I'm moving towards our happy ending still, here's to a second chance; to love without regret, to living in the here and now" you're gone." If that's not adorable, I don't know what is; and that's just based on the lyrics! Go listen to that song, and "Never Enough" because it's just as great, yet somehow better. It's more upbeat with lyrics that are easy to relate to.. "My Philosophy" is incredible as well. Oh, and they even left me a comment telling me that they were coming to New York [ where I'm located ] 2 days before, just to let me know and because I'd asked them to :] They're so great, I could ramble on about them for hours .. but you probably wouldn't want to read that .. so I guess I'll basically tell you to go check them out and prepare to fall in love
