Throwback Thursday - 10/28/10

>>I Wanna Rock” by Twisted Sister

> From the album Stay Hungry, released in 1984.
> The band also released Under The Blade, Love Is For Suckers, and several 'Greatest Hits' albums. Twisted Sister faced problems after the release of 1985's Come Out and Play, and eventually split in 1987. They got back together later on, and now conduct annual "Twisted Christmas" shows after releasing an album of the same title in 2006. The band will be unable to perform a Christmas show this year, but will instead be playing a handful of shows in Brazil, Chile, Argentina, and Bolivia through the end of the year.

>> Say My Name” by Destiny's Child

> From the album The Writing's On the Wall, released in 1999.
> This song, and the video as well, received a lot of attention when they were released. The song won awards at the 2001 Grammy Awards as well as an MTV Video Music Award. This video caused some drama for the group. Although LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson sing parts on the track, neither of the two was featured in the music video. Taking their place were Farrah Franklin and Michelle Williams, who replaced the other two women as official members of Destiny's Child. There was eventually a lawsuit as a result of this replacement, and there were other line-up changes as the years went by. Eventually, the final three members of Destiny's Child were Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams. Before parting ways to pursue solo careers, these three women went on to release several remix EPs, and Destiny Fulfilled (2004). Finally, Destiny's Child released #1's, a greatest hits album in 2005 featuring this, and other popular songs such as "Independent Women Part. 1", "Soldier", "Survivor", "Lose My Breath", and more.
